Public defences and theses

Spearheaded by Professor Christopher Gillberg, the GNC's predecessor, the Deppartment of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Sahlgrenska Academy, has been successful in terms of supervising PhD students and subsequently leading them to gain their PhD degree. When the GNC was founded, the centre pledged to double the number of PhD students supervised and PhD degrees gained over a five-year period, compared to the five years that preceded the creation of the centre.

In September 2010, at the time of the instatement of the GNC, there were six registered PhD students within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Six years later, in 2016, there are approximately 20 PhD students registered. The PhD students are affiliated with either the GNC in Gothenburg, Kōchi, Japan, or Lisbon or with collaborative partners in Glasgow and Helsinki.

During 2009-2010, one dissertation was presented within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The GNC in Gothenburg hosted its first public defence in December of 2011. Twelve dissertations have been put forward since then, the latest having been defended in June of 2016. Below you can see the forthcoming public defences at the GNC.

In the left margin you will find a link to a list of the doctoral theses that have been produced at the GNC and its predecessor Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP). The list also contains theses for which researchers at the GNC have been main- or co-supervisors, but where the public defences were held at another institute or university.
