Profile

Miguel Palha was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1957. After graduation in Medicine at the University of Lisbon in 1981, he specialized in Neurodevelopment within the field of Pediatrics.
He field-trained in the United Kingdom, France and the U.S.A. Since 2004, Miguel Palha has been the Clinical Director at the Child Development Centre “Diferenças” in Lisbon, an institution which assists, directly and indirectly, over 18.000 children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental problems in the whole country.
Miguel Palha's activity is mainly clinical and he holds a leading role in the follow-up of several neurodevelopmental disorders within the framework of his vast casuistic on intellectual disabilities disorders (particularly regarding Down syndrome, fragile X syndrome and William syndrome), autism spectrum disorders, specific learning disorders, language disorders and ADHD. Miguel Palha main research activity has been focused on the subject of Down syndrome.
