GNC's Maj-Britt Posserud appointed Professor

News: Nov 11, 2019

Our GNC collaborator Maj-Britt Posserud was recently appointed full professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Bergen. She started this August in her new position in a combined clinical and academic position at the Haukeland University Hospital. She will be working part-time at the specialised unit for autism spectrum disorders at the Child Mental Health Clinic and part-time at the University of Bergen with the main responsibility for teaching of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This is the first full teaching position in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Bergen for over a decade, and Posserud is grateful that the University of Bergen finally have been able to prioritize Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She hopes to be able to use her position to better integrate the important contribution that mental health in youth has for the large field of medicine. “We are a very tiny subject in the medical degree in terms of allocated teaching time, but one of the most important subjects in terms of impact on the well-being in an individual and in the society. My aim is to impart a developmental understanding as a platform for all of our students, as I believe that to be important to understand all individuals across life, not just for youth we meet in the child and adolescent clinical work.”
