Kahoko (Koko) Yasumitsu-Lovell, Master of Arts, International Relations from Australian National University. Master of Science in International Business, University of Gothenburg. Currently working as a researcher at Kochi University Medical School, under Professor Narufumi Suganuma specialising in Environmental Medicine. Her main project is a portion of the Japan Environment and Children’s Study (JECS), which is one of the world´s biggest birth cohort studies launched in January 2011, recruiting 100,000 pregnant women all over Japan and with follow up until the children are 13 years old. Kochi University is one of the 15 Regional Unit Centres, and in charge of 7000 participants in Kōchi Prefecture. One of the endpoints in the JECS is developmental disorders, and that is why the project started to get involved with the Kōchi Gillberg Centre. Koko is a PhD student at the Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre.
